The monthly roundup from Editor Teresa McPherson.

It's that time of the year again - the Fall Adhesive & Sealant Council, Inc. convention and show! The Fall ASC Convention and Expo is scheduled for Oct. 9-12 in Louisville, KY. A hot-melt short course is slated for Oct. 9-10.

We're proud to be joining forces with the ASC this fall on a Best Paper award. The award will be presented at the fall convention to the best technical and business papers. Awards are based on the recommendations of an industry task force, who will evaluate a pre-convention paper and onsite presentations. Winners will be announced during the meeting, and will receive an ASC Certificate of Recognition and have their papers published in ASI Magazine.

In addition, ASI is sponsoring the Monday morning breakfast, featuring Bill Samuels, Jr., president and CEO of Maker's Mark Distillery. Samuels is founding chair of the Kentucky Economic Development Partnership Board, represents Kentucky business on the Board of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and sits on the Executive Committee of the Louisville Chamber of Commerce. He has also been named Kentucky's Entrepreneur of the Year.

Educational sessions will take place Monday, Oct. 10 through Wednesday, Oct. 12. The two-and-a-half-day convention features informative sessions and workshops for both business- and technically oriented attendees. The three session topics are: Technical, Business and The Workplace.

New for this meeting is a "Hot Topics" session on Monday afternoon, which will offer an opportunity for adhesive and sealant manufacturers and suppliers to discuss current issues affecting the industry. There will be several short presentations on "hot" topic issues, followed by a question-and-answers session. Topics will be announced in late September on the ASC's website.
