Momentive Specialty Chemicals Inc. recently announced it has selected the city of Curitiba in Parana, Brazil, as the location for its next forest products manufacturing facility.

“We remain committed to the continued growth of our leading Latin American Forest Products Resins business,” said Dale Plante, executive vice president and president–Forest Products Division. “Today, we operate five sites in the region and greatly appreciated working with the state government and economic development officials in Parana during the site selection process.”

The new operations will reportedly include an administrative headquarters building and the necessary infrastructure improvements to support a world-scale formaldehyde production plant of 150,000 mt/year. Construction of the new facility, which is to include base resin manufacturing for wood adhesives, is expected to take approximately 12-18 months.
