CHEMIQUE ADHESIVES: Polyurethane Adhesive
Polyped2, an innovative product created by Chemique Adhesives and Sealants Ltd, is proving to be extremely popular for the installation and manufacture of raised access flooring. The adhesive was specifically formulated for the bonding of metal pedestals to concrete when installing raised flooring systems, though it can also be used on many other applications where a two-part polyurethane adhesive is required with good adhesion and flexibility.
Utilizing Chemique’s rigorous quality control procedures and its experience in the development of application techniques, Polyped2 has been designed to offer customer’s a number of advantages including that of the PSA “swinging bag test,” which proves the adhesive has a permanent bond.
For easy identification the two parts are coloured in blue and yellow, which when mixed form a uniform green colouring to identify that it is ready for use.
“Recognizing that our customers’ success is based on our ability to respond to their ever-changing flooring requirements, we hoped when creating Polyped2 to design a strong, extremely flexible bond and exceptional adhesive solution to metal substrates and concrete sub-floors, even on the most inconsistent floor,” said John Bellerby, Chemique technical manager.
Used by some of the largest manufacturers and installers in access floor industry, Polyped2 has exceeded expectations by providing outstanding performance and surpassing the demanding standards required.

CONPROTEC: Double Barrel Syringes
ConProTec Inc., a leading innovator of two-component adhesive dispensing systems, has announced the availability of its new line of double barrel syringes. The new syringe system consists of a manual plunger, a dual cylinder syringe and a static mixer, all designed to work together as an integrated, premium performance system.Syringes are available in 2.5, 5 and 10mL capacities, and are offered in 1:1, 4:1, and 10:1 ratios. These polypropylene syringes feature a unique interface design between the syringe, static mixer and cap, which optimizes both performance and ease of use. The separated cylinders of the double syringe prevent diffusion of the two components. This system provides precise mixing and dispensing for those applications that require nominal amounts of adhesive. Syringes are also available in black, which is optimal for light-sensitive materials.
ConProTec is an engineering-based company focused on developing the innovative line of the MIXPAC®SYSTEM for hand-held adhesive dispensing of two-component adhesives and sealants, as well as the complete line of STATOMIX®Motionless Mixers. With the MIXPAC®SYSTEM, two-component adhesives are as easy to use as a single-component adhesive.

GARLOCK SEALING TECHNOLOGIES: Gasket
Garlock Sealing Technologies, a leader in fluid sealing technology for more than 100 years, has launched Multi-Swell™, a proprietary new gasketing material. The world’s first self-loading general service gasket, Multi-Swell creates its own load when it comes into contact with oil or water, virtually eliminating the most common cause of gasket failure – insufficient load. This revolutionary new material performs equally well in oil or water, does not degrade in contact with oils, and adapts easily to all types of flange designs, making Multi-Swell an ideal gasket for a broad range of other applications –– all at a cost comparable to conventional gasket materials. Multi-Swell is particularly well suited for MRO applications, as it seals flanges in less than perfect conditions, thereby minimizing maintenance.
“More than 70% of all gasket failures are due to lack of load,” said Tim Hurley, Garlock product manager. “Multi-Swell generates and maintains its own load. It works well even in combination with flanges in poor condition, or flanges designed for soft, low-performance gaskets.”
Twice as soft as conventional gaskets, Multi-Swell is easy to cut and readily conformable, even to irregular flanges, ensuring tight seals with lower loads. Multi-Swell features extremely high crush strength and can be safely installed in applications that would typically crush elastomeric gaskets. In applications such as transmissions and air conditioning systems, where vibration often causes bolt load loss, or where load loss occurs because of bolt relaxation, Multi-Swell counters that loss to prevent leakage and weeping. Because it performs well under low-load conditions, Multi-Swell can be used with confidence even with plastic or cast iron flanges.
Multi-Swell is both environment-friendly and budget-friendly. Using Multi-Swell actually reduces the expenses associated with vegetable fiber and cork gaskets. Cork and vegetable fiber gaskets’ capillary leak paths require the use of absorbent oil pads, create oil loss and safety issues, and sometimes necessitate expensive water treatment when leakage occurs. The use of Multi-Swell eliminates these costs and environmental risks.

I&J FISNAR: Peristaltic Pump Dispenser
Precision dispensing of dangerous or toxic substances can be controlled by the model PPD-130 Peristaltic Pump Dispenser from I&J Fisnar Inc., maintaining a clean and safe bench environment while providing accurate and repeatable deposits of low-viscosity fluids. The peristaltic pumping principle applies pressure to a soft Teflon tube, which accepts deformation but can quickly recover its initial shape-improving occlusion. Fluid flow is a function of the tube diameter and pump rotational speed. There are several advantages to this dispensing principle, not least of which is that the system is air-free and the operator need not come into contact with any hazardous material, such as cyanoacrylate, solvent, alkaline or acid.
The system is self-priming on start-up from a bottle or jar, mechanical parts do not come into contact with the fluid, and the transfer of liquid from the source container is carried out without agitation. The PPD-130 has a reverse direction feature for emptying the tube and returning the fluid safely to the source after use, reducing cost and maintenance. It can also be programmed to provide between 0-3 seconds of vacuum snuff-back for deposit control.
The PPD-130 is suitable for small shots and continuous operation with an adjustable rotor speed, and can be operated manually with a finger switch or remotely through an I/O interface. A large segment LCD displays a timed countdown for fluid discharge from 0.01–99.99 seconds. The PPD-130 is available in 110V and 220V versions.
