Assembly in Action
Assembly Show attendees will include salespeople, engineers and managers from a variety of industries, including aerospace/defense, electronics, consumer products, automotive, and medical/pharmaceutical.
This fall, visitors to the inaugural Assembly Show will enjoy an event that has been specially designed for suppliers, buyers and users of assembly technology and equipment. The event, which will be held October 28-30 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill., is expected to fulfill a strong industry demand for an assembly-focused trade show.
“Through extensive research and industry polling, we concluded that both suppliers and users of assembly equipment want a space where they can focus solely on assembly, not intermixed with other areas in manufacturing,” says Tom Esposito, publisher of ASSEMBLY magazine, the event’s organizer. “The Assembly Show will bring back the tradition of past assembly-only events.”
Networking Agenda
Assembly Show attendees will include salespeople, engineers and managers from a variety of industries, including aerospace/defense, electronics, consumer products, automotive, and medical/pharmaceutical. Representatives from a number of manufacturing sectors, such as plastics and rubber, fabricated metals, electrical equipment appliances, R&D, energy and more, will also be present. During the three-day event, these industry professionals will have opportunities to forge crucial business relationships and connections.
The welcome reception on October 28 will provide participants with a chance to connect with one another while enjoying a “Taste of Rosemont,” with food and drinks from several local restaurants. Another networking reception will take place on the following evening. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will give exhibitors a break from their booths and allow them to interact with other manufacturing engineers and managers.
Hear from the Experts
The first keynote presentation at the Assembly Show will be given by Daniel Meckstroth, Ph.D., vice president and chief economist of Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation (MAPI). “What Lies Ahead for U.S. Manufacturing?” will address potential policy changes and future growth expectations in a variety of manufacturing sectors.
Michael Molnar, director of the Advanced Manufacturing National Program Office and chief manufacturing officer for the National Institute of Standards and Technology in the U.S. Department of Commerce, will also present a keynote address. “Private-Public Partnerships for U.S. Advanced Manufacturing” will discuss ways to promote innovation in the U.S. through the National Network of Manufacturing Innovation and other initiatives.
Showcase Theater and Exhibit Hall
Industry experts will provide relevant information on the latest assembly technology and business practices in the Showcase Theater presentations. These presentations will take place on the show floor during exhibition hours. Topics covered will include automation for higher throughput, LED technology, reaction-free tools, vision inspection systems, cordless assembly tools and more.
The Assembly Show exhibit hall will be open during all three days of the event. Visitors will be able to test the latest assembly equipment, find new solutions and suppliers, and discuss challenges with other industry professionals.
Show Extras
A special presentation entitled “Assembling the Lightning” will be given by George “Nick” Bullen, principal engineer and technical fellow (retired) from Northrop Grumman Corp. The Palmdale, Calif., company was honored as ASSEMBLY magazine’s 2013 Plant of the Year.
The Assembly Show will also offer useful technology-based resources for both in-person and geographically dispersed attendees. A live broadcasting capability will allow industry professionals to view selected sessions via live webinars. Webinar participants will be able to download resources and network with one another. Similarly, the Assembly Show mobile app will enable on-site visitors to locate sessions, exhibits, venue information and even discounted hotel rooms. The app is available for download on iOS, Android, Blackberry and Windows Phone.
