Japanese researchers have reportedly developed a new glass called “polyether-thioureas” from a low-weight polymer that can heal itself from cracks and breaks. Although self-healing rubber and plastics have already been developed, the researchers said that the new material, which was accidently discovered, was the first hard substance of its kind that can be healed at room temperature. The new polymer glass could be a potential environment-friendly alternative to current phone screens and other fragile devices.
