German-based Bodo Möller Chemie has opened a new Adhesive Competence Center in Shanghai, further expanding its international presence. Chinese government representative Xu Mingjun attended the center’s inauguration alongside partners and clients such as DuPont, Henkel, Huntsman, Elkem, Mankiewicz, CRRC, Gestamp, KTK, and Saint-Gobain. The company also announced that Kevin Pang has been appointed the new managing director for the company’s branches in China and Hong Kong and appointed general director of the recently established Vietnam subsidiary.

The newly opened Adhesive Competence Center allows Bodo Möller Chemie to fulfill existing and steadily growing demand from industry in China and Southeast Asia. Clients and partners can now also benefit from Bodo Möller Chemie’s expertise and expanded service in this region too. The laboratory provides numerous services specifically tailored to the needs of the highly technological Asian markets. Available tests include analyses to determine viscosity, life cycles, lap shear strength, signs of aging, and temperature change behavior in adhesive joints. To provide this service, the laboratory includes state-of-the-art equipment, including a universal testing machine, a viscometer, a UV chamber, an environmental chamber, a vacuum drying oven, and advanced manual and semi-automatic dosing technology.

"Bodo Möller Chemie translates the chemical data of adhesives into mechanical and electromagnetic data for our clients’ engineers," explained Frank Haug, chairman of the board, Bodo Möller Chemie Group. "This way, we help our clients to develop innovative solutions and boost their competitiveness.” These advanced services include assistance from technical consultants during the entire development process, right through to series production."

The grand opening coincided with a change in management: since March 2024, Kevin Pang has held the position of managing director of the Bodo Möller Chemie branches in China (Shanghai and Hong Kong) and has also taken on the role of general director for the newly opened subsidiary in Vietnam. He started as sales manager in the then newly created Chinese subsidiary back in 2015. "Kevin Pang has made a major contribution to Bodo Möller Chemie China’s growth," said Lionel Breuilly, president of Bodo Möller Chemie APAC. "His appointment is a key step in advancing our presence in the region further and in reaching our strategic goals."

Kevin Pang stressed the new laboratory’s strategic importance during his inauguration speech, "Our new Adhesive Competence Center will make a considerable contribution to further developing adhesive technology in Asia. It’s another step in our mission to offer our clients the best possible service."

Bodo Möller Chemie already operates Adhesive Competence Centers in Spain and Poland.
