Shurtape Technologies LLC has modified the design on its premium HVAC tape in response to field feedback that inspectors look for “red-letter tape” when performing HVAC inspections. Shurtape® DC 181 will now feature red lettering on silver (metallic) film tape, replacing the existing silver (metallic) tape with black lettering design.

Shurtape DC 181 film tape is designed for use on Class 1 Flex Duct for connecting, joining, sealing, and patching flexible air ductwork in a residential, commercial, or industrial setting. The tape features an acrylic adhesive system, provides high performance in temperatures ranging from -10 F to 210 F and is clearly printed with the UL Listing that building codes require today. In addition to the red letters providing a quick and easy way for HVAC inspectors to visually confirm jobs are code compliant, the updated look will match the red print of other UL Certified Tapes within the Shurtape HVAC portfolio, including AF 099 UL 181A-P/B-FX Listed/Printed Foil Tape and SF 686 UL 181B-FX Listed/Printed ShurMASTIC® Butyl Foil Tape.

“We’ve listened to the market and our customers and believe making this simple change to our DC 181 will help homeowners and building inspectors better identify that the proper tape is being used for flexible duct work, making life on the job site easier for HVAC professionals,” said Dennis Ineman, Shurtape’s product manager for HVAC & Specialty Tapes.

Additional product features for Shurtape DC 181 include:
