Kuraray America’s Bayport Plant Receives ISCC PLUS Certification

Kuraray America Inc. recently announced its Bayport Plant in Pasadena, Texas, has received the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS designation. The designation is a globally recognized sustainability certification system that ensures transparency, traceability, and sustainable practices throughout complex supply chains. Kuraray’s Bayport Plant follows its La Porte, Texas, plant as the company’s second site in the United States to receive this certification.
“Achieving the ISCC PLUS certification for our Bayport Plant validates our dedication to responsible sourcing as well as sustainable manufacturing and production,” said Hans Vandommele, president of Kuraray America. “These certifications align with our broader environmental objectives to reduce our carbon footprint and support circular economy principles.”
ISCC PLUS verifies that materials such as biomass and recycled raw materials are responsibly sourced and managed using the mass-balance approach, a method that tracks sustainable content through every stage of the supply chain, from raw material sourcing to final product manufacturing.
Kuraray reports that the company is committed to achieving the sustainability goals outlined in its strategic plan by expanding its lineup of products designed to support and enhance both natural and living environments. This effort aligns with the company’s long-term vision, “Kuraray Vision 2026,” which aims to establish Kuraray as a specialty chemical company that grows sustainably by integrating new foundational platforms into its technologies while contributing to customers, society and the planet.
