PPG has joined Make it Zero, a global initiative developed by the European DIY Retailers Association and the Global Home Improvement Network to reduce Scope 3* greenhouse gas emissions within the do-it-yourself (DIY) home improvement sector. As part of this commitment, PPG’s Architectural Coatings business in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand has become a signatory to the initiative’s decarbonization targets.
PPG joins the group of retailers and suppliers in the DIY home improvement sector to address the challenges associated with indirect emissions through the value chain. As a part of the initiative's task force, PPG is contributing to the development of clear and consistent methodologies for collecting and measuring carbon data, sharing best practices in reporting, and accelerating progress to reduce Scope 3 emissions.
"As a key player in the retail DIY sector, we recognize the importance of collaboration across the value chain," said Sarah Trowse, PPG customer sustainability business partner, Architectural Coatings. "We share the responsibility to lower the industry's carbon footprint and are committed to working together with our customers and suppliers to achieve these goals. By lowering our Scope 3 emissions and joining this task force, we're supporting our customers' sustainability ambitions, accelerating a lower carbon portfolio of paints and coatings, and creating stronger customer intimacy."
This initiative underscores PPG's commitment to sustainability and aligns with its 2030 sustainability targets, which include Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions reduction targets that have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). These targets demonstrate the company's focus on innovation and sustainability, evidenced by its diverse portfolio of products that meet customer demands.
