TROY, Mich. – Richard A. Miller, senior technical representative at Eastman Chemical Co., Kingsport, Tenn., has joined Adhesives & Sealants Industry magazine’s editorial advisory board. Named one of the top inventors by R&D magazine, Miller is helping preserve our natural resources. In July of 1996, he and a colleague, Dr. Scott George, were chosen to receive the R&D100 Award. Their selection made them two of 100 people recognized worldwide for significant technology.
The Miller-George polymer, AQ1350, has the unique attribute of being water-dispersible and recyclable for the adhesive and sealant trade. This polymer is replacing non-water-dispersible polymers for utility in paper products and nonwoven assemblies that can be repulpable and recyclable, making it an environmentally green product.
Affiliated with Eastman Chemical Co. since January 1989, Miller has been with the company’s Technical Service and Development laboratory. He has 15 years prior experience with other adhesive and sealant polymer companies. A holder of 19 U.S. patents in adhesives and sealants technology, he has published a number of articles and papers in industry trade journals.
