BETHESDA, Md. – The Board of Directors of the Adhesive and Sealant Council, Inc. (ASC) has appointed Richard A. Barry as president. For over 25 years, Barry has worked as a business and marketing executive in a variety of specialty and fine chemicals businesses. His background includes providing strategic leadership for mature product lines, establishing market alliances and successfully starting up new businesses. Barry’s experience as a global business manager has given him extensive opportunities to work both domestically and internationally.

Addressing members at the Fall Convention in Pittsburgh, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Lester G. Burch, Sashco Sealants, Inc., said, “ASC is changing, and we think Rick is the person who can lead this organization into truly realizing its vision that we are where the industry meets.”

Most recently, Barry was vice president and global director, Printing and Packaging Products, for Johnson Polymer, a subsidiary of SC Johnson Wax. Barry also worked in the Fine Chemicals and Polymer Divisions for Henkel Corp., and held technical positions at Ashland Chemical Co. He holds a bachelor’s degree in science from the University of Wisconsin.
