AMERICAN ROLLER ACQUIRES PLASMA COATINGS
American Roller Co., Union Grove, WI, has acquired Plasma Coatings, Inc., a manufacturer of thermal and release coatings. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. This is the second major acquisition made by American Roller since the final quarter of 2003. On Oct. 10, 2003, American Roller purchased Champion Roller Co., Rock Hill, SC. Established in 1969, Plasma Coatings is a pioneer of flame-sprayed special surface material coatings for rollers and other industrial parts. These coatings are primarily applied when nonstick, corrosion resistance and wear resistance properties are required. Its processes include metallizing, electric arc spray, thermal spray, plasma spray, and high velocity oxygen fuel. The company offers more than 20 different standard series of coatings, including a large, diverse selection of state-of-the-art coating options for the paper, nonwoven, adhesives, converting, printing, petrochemical, label, diaper, rubber and tire, pharmaceutical, food, and soap industries. Many coatings are proprietary and patented and applied on-site at customer locations. American Roller's Arcotech Plant, located in Wisconsin, utilizes many of the same processes for its ceramic, metal matrix and Escort line of release coating products, and has the additional ability to grind-finish these types of coatings to exacting tolerances.
