Degussa Raises Prices For All Grades Of Silanes In North America
Effective Nov. 1, or as contract terms allow, Degussa increased prices for all grades of functional silanes in North America by 4 percent, not to exceed current list prices. This increase is needed to partially offset the rise in silicon metal and energy costs, as well as to bring the value of the products closer to reinvestment levels. Additionally, the price increase will help address the rise in environmental and regulatory costs associated with these products. The company has also implemented an aggressive internal cost-reduction program. "This price increase alone will not fully cover the rise in direct production and associated regulatory costs that have impacted our business over the past few years," stated Rich Owins, vice president of Degussa's Aerosil & Silanes business unit.
