Clariant: Polypropylene Wax Grafted With Maleic Anhydride
Clariant's Pigments and Additives Division presents Licomont AR 504, a polypropylene wax grafted with maleic anhydride intended for use in natural fibre reinforced plastics. Because of its chemical structure, the reactive anhydride forms new stable bonds between the two materials and thus acts as a coupling agent and compatibilizer. The low viscosity of the wax is a particular advantage, which enables it to completely impregnate wood fibres and other natural fillers. Generally, Licomont AR 504 has a strong positive effect on the mechanical properties of reinforced thermoplastics compared to additive-free formulations. Properties such as toughness or elasticity are significantly improved even in the case of highly filled wood fibre composites. The wax is available as granules or fine grain.
