Engelhard Corp., Iselin, N.J., is enacting an energy surcharge on specialty kaolin-based pigments for industrial markets, including adhesives, coatings, inks, plastics and rubber. The surcharge will be $3.00 per short ton for hydrous slurry products, $6.00 for hydrous dry products and $18.00 for calcined and calcined silane-treated grades.
ExxonMobil Chemical, Houston, has completed a significant upgrading project of its isopropyl alcohol facility in Baton Rouge, La. Improvements made to the facility will increase plant efficiency by greatly extending turnaround cycles. The project increases the nameplate capacity of the plant to 340 kt/year.
