Scapa North America recently announced its ability to custom-extrude polymers in a point-bonded coating onto a wide range of substrates. Custom-coated papers, nonwovens, textiles and films ultimately become end use products such as ink jet media, medical gowns, bandages, surgical barriers, and fascia materials for automotive components. The extremely precise, high-speed Scapa extrusion line allows for the simultaneous lamination of single or multiple layers of a variety of polymers and provides exceptional flexibility in the types of materials that can be coated. Coating thickness may also be controlled within extremely tight limits. For highly precise applications, such as surgical gown fabrication, Scapa's discontinuously bonded coatings result in lightweight nonwoven materials that are breathable, flexible and comfortable.
