Sartomer Company has announced the introduction of the first commercially available thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) resin based on unique polybutadiene polyols. This new resin, Poly bd 2035 TPU, is designed to enhance the performance of films, adhesives, sealants, coatings and thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) when compared to conventional TPUs based on polyether or polyester polyols. Poly pd 2035 is also an excellent candidate for polymer modification of traditional polyolefin and engineering polymers for enhanced properties. Poly pd 2035 TPU is an 80 Shore A material with a specific gravity of 0.96. The new resin offers a number of performance properties, including excellent resistance against strong acids and bases, as well as resistance to hydrolysis.
