Huntsman’s Advanced
Materials manufacturing site in Los
Angeles has been selected as the 2009 Southern
California Facility of the Year in the large industry category by the
California Water Environment Association (CWEA). The plant, which produces
adhesives, syntactics, laminating resins, encapsulants and potting materials,
supports customers in the design, fabrication, and assembly of components used
in the aerospace, automotive, electronics, power, and general manufacturing
industries. Part of a $20 million modernization over the past four years, the
facility has advanced production, quality control and process development
capabilities. It is AS9100:2004 and ISO 9100:2000 certified.
Among
the qualities that led the CWEA Pretreatment,
Pollution Prevention and Stormwater subcommittee to choose Huntsman’s Los
Angeles site for this prestigious award were its knowledgeable and committed environmental staff, innovative processes,
zero discharge of treated wastewater, preventative maintenance efforts to
minimize or reuse waste materials,
and consistent record of compliance with sewer and stormwater discharge
requirements.
An awards presentation ceremony and
luncheon is scheduled to be held at the Hilton Long Beach in Long Beach, CA, on
March 2 during CWEA’s 37th Annual Pretreatment,
Pollution Prevention and Stormwater Training Conference and Exhibition.
