Henkel has earmarked assistance totaling €150,000 to help the victims of the
recent devastating earthquake in China. Working closely with its sites in
China, the company is already in the process of channeling a large portion of
this emergency aid in the form of monetary and product donations via the Henkel
Friendship Initiative (HFI) to the people in the regions affected. Within the
next few days, €50,000 will be
distributed via the Red Cross in China. Henkel will also be donating hygiene
products, cleaning agents and construction materials valued at €50,000. Building on this immediate
assistance, Henkel will provide another €50,000
over the next few months to support specific reconstruction projects in the
Sichuan province.
The HFI is an
independent charitable association founded by Henkel together with its
employees and retirees in order to provide immediate aid to people worldwide
that fall victim to crises or catastrophes. It is one of the pillars supporting
Henkel Smile, the umbrella program for the company’s social involvement
activities. The areas supported by Henkel Smile include: social welfare;
education and science; health; art and culture; and ecology.
