Segetis Announces Opening of Semi-Works Production Facility (3/1/09)
Segetis Inc. has announced
that its Minneapolis-based semi-works production facility is now fully
operational and producing green chemicals suitable for development and further
commercialization. At full capacity, the facility is expected to produce up to
250,000 pounds per year of chemicals and chemical building blocks sourced from
rapidly renewable resources.
Since June 2008, Segetis has progressed from lab-scale synthesis to engineering, designing and building a semi-works manufacturing facility capable of producing materials for its targeted applications. “The rapid development of these renewable chemical products is a testament to the strength of our technology and team,” said Jim Stoppert, president and CEO of Segetis Inc. “The successful start-up of our semi-works facility enables us to now move quickly into targeted, larger-scale trials for products like polyol and plasticizers.”
