A leak in a Dow Chemical underground pipeline has prompted the
evacuation of more than 60 homes in Freeport,
TX.
Dow Chemical spokeswoman Trish Rithaller says crews are expected
to begin digging in a field around the pipeline on Wednesday to repair the
leak. The accident involves a urethane product.
Rithaller says the underground pipeline leak was discovered
Sunday morning and the area has been secured.
Plant workers were dispatched to neighborhoods on Monday to
advise residents to relocate to hotels and expect to be out of their homes for
several days.
No injuries were reported.
Freeport is located about 60
miles south of Houston.
