Eliokem, a global specialty
chemicals company, has announced the appointment of regional directors in the U.S., India,
China
and Asia Pacific as part of its global strategy.
John Malloy has been
appointed regional director for the U.S. Malloy joined Eliokem in 2002 as director
of Finance and Administration. Prior to joining Eliokem, he worked for 13 years
with Deloitte & Touche in accounting, auditing and business consulting with
manufacturing and industrial companies. Malloy obtained a bachelor’s degree in
business with dual majors in accounting and finance from the John Carroll
University and is a CPA.
Lester Liu has been
appointed regional director for China.
Liu joined Eliokem in 2004 as manager of the company’s new state-of-the-art
plant in Ningbo (China). In 2007, he was promoted as
China manufacturing manager
in charge of a new project based in Caojing, Shanghai. Liu started his career in 1992 at
Epson, a leading Japanese printer company. In 1998, he moved to Exxon Mobil,
the world-leading petrochemical company, and in 2001 he became general manager
of a company affiliated to Exxon Mobil Corp. Liu is a graduate of the South
China University of Technology with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. He also
holds an MBA from Zhejiang Gongshang University
– China.
Deepak Birje has been appointed
regional director for India.
Birje started his career in 1982 as sales representative at Shandilya Chemicals
Pvt Ltd. (Mumbai). In 1984, he moved to the Plastichemicals Co., an indenting
house for synthetic rubber and chemicals, as product manager. In 1998, he set
up the India liaison office
for Goodyear Chemicals (later Eliokem) where he was responsible for the sales
and marketing of products manufactured in the Le Havre,
Akron, and Ningbo
plants. He was involved in Eliokem’s acquisition of Apar's Polymer Division
Valia Plant in India
in 2008. Birje holds a B.S. in chemistry from the Bombay University.
He also obtained a diploma in business management from Bombay University.
Terence Poon has been
appointed regional director for Asia Pacific (except China
and India).
Poon started his career in the chemicals business in 1976 with several trading
and manufacturing companies, including Jardines, ICI and Rhone Poulenc, before
joining Goodyear (Eliokem) in 1983. He has worked in different functional
capacities including sales and marketing, business development, operations and
general management. Poon studied chemistry in Hong Kong and completed an MBA in
the U.S.
He has lived and worked in Singapore
since 1996.
