The Sustainable Buildings Industry Council (SBIC) has appointed
Bud DeFlaviis to serve as its new executive director.
DeFlaviis will work with SBIC membership to support the
organization's mission to promote high-performing commercial and residential
buildings. He will also work on strategic fundraising, membership expansion and
support, policy advocacy, and a variety of special projects.
Prior to joining the SBIC, DeFlaviis served as the director of
Government Affairs for the U.S. Fuel Cell Council, a 100-member trade
association. In that role, he helped shape industry consensus on a number of
key legislative initiatives. He also provided education and outreach support to
policy makers and the general public
about alternative energy technologies. These efforts resulted in
increased appropriations, beneficial authorizations and new progressive tax
policies that benefitted the industry.
Mr. DeFlaviis began working in Washington in 2001 as a press secretary for
a senior member of Congress. He earned
his B.A. in Economics with a minor in political science from the Pennsylvania State University
in 1997.
