A new book by Bodo Müller and Walter Rath examines adhesives
and sealants from the chemist’s viewpoint.
Formulating Adhesives and Sealantsfocuses on
the composition and ingredients of the various types of adhesive, their
chemical structure and functional groups and clearly shows how these give rise
to the resulting properties. The book explainsadhesive
and sealant formulation in two steps: the application and chemical basis of the
type of adhesive or sealant concerned, followed by formulation advice and – if
possible – an analysis of existing formulations. In addition, achapter
is devoted to the design and testing of adhesive joints.
