The Dow Chemical
Co. has been added to the NASDAQ OMX CRD Global Sustainability 50 Index for the
first time.
“Sustainability
has been firmly planted in Dow’s corporate strategy for many years,” said Howard
Ungerleider, Dow’s vice president of Investor Relations. “The more companies
and investors recognize the importance of sustainability leadership as a
business objective, the more value will be delivered to society, the
environment, employees, and shareholders.”
The NASDAQ OMX
CRD Global Sustainability 50 Index is comprised of companies that have taken a
leadership role in disclosing their carbon footprint, energy usage, water
consumption, hazardous and non-hazardous waste, employee safety, workforce
diversity, management composition, and community investing.
Neil Hawkins,
Dow’s vice president of Sustainability and EH&S, said Dow remains focused
on continuing to reduce its impact on the environment while harnessing its
innovation to help customers, communities, and individuals to do the same.
“As the world’s
leading specialty chemical and advanced materials company, Dow contributes to
the sustainability of society and our planet by developing innovative
technologies for current and future markets,” he said.
