Nordson EFD, a division of Nordson Corp., has won the Good Design Award for 2010 for its Optimum™ cartridge system. Founded by the curator of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and now in its 60th year, the award is the oldest and most prestigious awards program for innovative and cutting-edge industrial design in the world. Each year, designers in over 30 countries are honored for the singular achievements in producing hallmarks of contemporary design.
Nordson EFD developed the Optimum cartridge system to help today’s manufacturers and fluid packagers apply controlled amounts of the adhesives, sealants, lubricants and other assembly fluids used in almost every manufacturing process.
“Nordson EFD designed each component as part of a complete, integrated system to help manufacturers build their products better, faster and more cost effectively,” said Jeff Pembroke, president of Nordson EFD. “We are delighted with the positive feedback we have received from customers and are very honored to be recognized with the Good Design Award, which further validates our approach.”
The award criteria include a quality design of the highest form, function, materials, concept, utility, construction and aesthetics; the design must also embody product excellence and strong public identity. The public seal of approval immediately informs consumers that the selected product meets the most rigorous test and criteria for design excellence.
