Next month, the 2011 Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) Fall Convention and Expo will be held at the JW Marriott Indianapolis Hotel in Indianapolis, IN. The ASC projects that more than 400 industry experts will attend the event, which will take place October 16-18. Over the course of the convention, attendees will benefit from presentations by industry experts, the ASC Expo, a Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives (PSA) Short Course, and a variety of other networking opportunities, including a welcome reception and golf outing at the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course.
Educational Sessions
On Monday, October 17, and Tuesday, October 18, convention speakers will give presentations on the industry’s most relevant topics. Areas of interest likely to be covered include current market trends, government regulations, raw materials development and green chemistry formulations. “This year’s conference features historical success drivers, including a focus on feedstock trends, regulatory issues and legal perspectives that are vital topics in today’s business environment,” says ASC Chairman Glenn Frommer. “Several new features include an expanded focus on end user trends and requirements, and industry expert speakers covering packaging, building/construction, footwear and the DIY channel.”Presentations, which will be given during designated session times before and after lunch, will be split into three tracks: technology/application, business development/market trends and government regulations/technical. Dividing the presentations by topic will allow attendees to plan to attend sessions that best fit their needs.
PSA Short Course
The ASC will also be coordinating a two-day Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives Short Course that will run concurrently with the convention. On October 16 and 17, adhesives and sealants industry professionals will teach fundamental information about PSAs to technical personnel (researchers and engineers), as well as sales and marketing specialists who work for adhesive and sealant formulators or manufacturers. The two-day course will examine topics such as Introduction to PSA Markets, PSA Production, Characterization and End User Opportunities and Issues. Short Course attendees need only have a working understanding of basic chemistry (no advanced knowledge is necessary).
