Akzo Nobel recently announced second quarter 2011 results. Revenue was up 8%, to €4.1 billion (~ $5.8 billion), driven by volume and pricing, before adjusting for a currency headwind of 3%. Total net income reached €268 million (~ $5.8 billion), compared to €273 million (~ $392 million) in 2010.
Raw material inflation, challenging trading conditions and one-off factors lowered the quarter’s EBITDA to €551 million (~ $791 million) vs. €614 million (~ $882 million) in 2010.
