DELO Industrial Adhesive recently announced it received the RadTech award for the development of light-curing, transparent adhesives for display bonding. Dietmar Dengler, Ph.D., director of Chemistry at DELO, accepted the award, which was given at the RadTech Europe conference in October in Basel, Switzerland. “We are pleased to have received the award for the development of our optically clear adhesives,” Dengler said. “The growing demands in display bonding require special adhesives that give good adhesion and transparence, are resistant to chemicals, and reduce the reflections of the display surface.”
The high-tech adhesives are used in displays of innovative smart phones or e-readers. For this purpose, the disparate layers that constitute a display are bonded. When bonding displays, the goal is to minimize reflections and prevent the interface between touch panel and cover from getting fogged up or contaminated.
