This company has updated and reintroduced its “Loctite® Design Guide for Bonding Metals.” The 59-page guide opens with background information on the advantages of using structural adhesives over mechanical fasteners or thermal joining to bond metal substrates, along with a review of effective joint design strategies for stress distribution. The remainder of the brochure features a review of each available structural adhesive technology, and discussions of the best adhesives for a range of metal substrates.
Individual metal bonding chapters provide bond strength and shear strength data for each of eight substrates: aluminum, anodized aluminum, copper, nickel, stainless steel, steel, zinc dichromated steel, and zinc galvanized steel. The literature also introduces data on 23 of the newest structural adhesives from Loctite.
