This company, a business unit of Emerald Performance Materials, has announced a new family of UV-curable colorants for printing and coatings applications launched under the LUCIDA COLORS™ brand. The new product family, known as LUCIDA COLORS™ EC, addresses the growing demand for energy-curable (EC) systems and offers high-quality pigments with improved handling characteristics and low odor. For the printing industry, the LUCIDA COLORS EC line includes a full 12-color palette for flexographic printing and a CMYK set for sheet-fed applications. It also includes a 12-color palette of dispersions and four Trans-Oxides® for paints and stains.  

“LUCIDA COLORS has been designed to offer key processing and handling benefits over other energy- curable dispersions on the market,” said John Erbeck, product line manager for Emerald Specialties. “Customers have been adapting UV systems because of key advantages over conventional systems, such as faster curing and processing; however, handling and product odor have presented concerns. Our proprietary technology addresses these concerns by producing dispersions that are lower in odor and more easily pourable.”
