Nordson ASYMTEK recently reported it received two awards for innovative technology at NEPCON China 2012, which took place in April. The Innovation Award from Electronics Manufacturing Asia and the VISION Award from SMT China magazines were presented to Nordson ASYMTEK for product excellence in the dispensing category for its Select Coat® SC-280 film coater conformal coating applicator.

The Select Coat film coater uses patented dispensing technology to selectively apply conformal coating material in a controlled, uniform film rather than an atomized spray, coating complex circuit boards in seconds. Because the material is not atomized and is precisely applied to selected areas, the overspray, masking, and rework associated with conventional coating processes are reportedly minimized or eliminated.
