Technological advancements, industry innovations and regulatory updates: all these features and more will be highlighted at the 2013 Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) Spring Conference and Expo in Atlanta, Ga. The adhesives and sealants community will gather at the Hyatt Regency from April 21-23 to share business information, discover the latest innovations, and network with industry leaders.
Educational Events
One major highlight of the event will be the luncheon keynote address on Tuesday, April 23 by Jim Jones, acting assistant administrator at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Jones, who is among the most prominent EPA members to ever address the ASC, will focus his speech on chemical safety. He will talk about current and future regulatory developments in the world of adhesive and sealant chemicals, and he will share information with stakeholders on how they may become more proactive in regulatory affairs.
Other keynote speakers will include Paul Hodges, chairman of International eChem, who will present the General Session Breakfast keynote on “Managing Business in Today’s VUCA Environment” on Monday, April 21; and John Warner, president and CTO of Warner Babcock Institute for Green Chemistry LLC, who will present Tuesday morning’s General Breakfast Keynote on “Entropic Control in Materials Design as an Example of Green Chemistry.”
In addition to the keynote events, the conference will feature educational sessions that will be divided into three tracks: Business Development and Market Trends, Technical and Government Regulations, and New Technology and Application. In the latter track, researchers will share ways to market the latest technological developments and formulations. Educational sessions will take place on April 22 and 23.
Chemists, application engineers, raw materials suppliers and other industry professionals may also want to attend the ASC Polyurethane Short Course, which will be offered on April 21 and 22. This course will delve into topics surrounding the polyurethane market, including chemistry and formulation, adhesion fundamentals, testing, applications, sustainability and a general market overview. The short course educational sessions will conclude just before the ASC Expo and reception on April 22.
The Expo and Beyond
More than 70 exhibitors will highlight industry innovations from 4-7 p.m. on April 22. The ASC Expo Reception will also take place at 6 p.m. Hundreds of adhesives and sealants professionals are expected to attend the expo for networking and learning about the newest products and services in the adhesives and sealants world. Two iPads and a Kindle Fire will be raffled off at this event.
The ASC Spring Convention will also feature a golf outing at The Frog golf club on April 21. The Frog, which was designed by the acclaimed course architect Tom Fazio, is reportedly among the best golf courses in Georgia. Additional networking events will include the First-Time Attendees and New Members Reception, the Sunday Welcome Reception, the CEO Lunch, and a new, early-morning Fun Run/Walk at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, April 22 in Centennial Park.
