LORD Corp. recently announced it has partnered with the North Carolina State University Department of Chemistry to establish the first LORD Undergraduate Summer Research Fellowship. The new award is tied to a semester-long research project in which teams of students use primary literature sources to investigate a topic selected by N.C. State chemistry faculty and LORD scientists.
The partnership reportedly presents an opportunity to expand students’ understanding of fundamental chemistry and its industrial relevance. At the end of the semester, student teams will deliver a presentation on their findings to a panel of LORD scientists, N.C. State faculty and graduate students. The LORD Undergraduate Summer Research Fellowship will fund one undergraduate student, who will be selected for his or her excellence in researching and presenting their topic. These funds will provide support for 10 weeks of summer research with a faculty member in N.C. State’s Department of Chemistry.
