LORD Corp. recently announced a facility expansion in Cambridge Springs, Pa., to enhance its manufacturing capability for the oil and gas market. The $15 million investment will reportedly support the existing plant’s expansion and the procurement of new machinery and equipment, in addition to the potential to create 10 or more jobs over a three-year period.
The expansion is intended to support new manufacturing output for products such as flexible joints for offshore drilling and production risers. The existing facility was established in 1966 with 60,000 sq ft. The current 172,000-sq-ft space employs 140 workers who serve the industrial, aerospace, and oil and gas markets.
“We chose Cambridge Springs to locate this new production given the facility’s proven track record of introducing new products to market and for alignment with current manufacturing processes and expertise,” said Eric Ravinowich, president, Oil and Gas and Industrial Equipment. “With a 90-year history and proud legacy in northwest Pennsylvania, this is another positive step in our growth in the region. We are thankful for the collaboration between business leaders and state and local government agencies to make this project feasible.”
The facility is expected to deliver its first products from the expanded space in the third quarter of 2015.
