Berry Plastics recently announced it has received the Association of Postconsumer Plastic Recyclers’ (APR) inaugural Responsible Innovation Acknowledgment award. The award was reportedly given for Berry Plastics’ VersaliteTM, a fully recyclable food and beverage packaging solution. The APR is the leading trade organization representing the plastics recycling industry in North America.

“We are extremely proud to be acknowledged by the APR for our work in bringing to market Versalite,” said Rob Flores, director of Sustainability. “Throughout the development process for Versalite, we continually engaged with market leaders in the waste and recycling community, as well as leading industry trade groups such as the APR, to verify that Versalite could be easily recycled and to help increase the overall supply of recycled polypropylene.”

“As a leading plastics company, we are committed to continuously improving our operations, products, and services to become more environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable,” said Jon Rich, chairman and CEO. “Versalite is one example of how, through responsible innovation, we are striving to fulfill that vision for Berry Plastics, our customers, end consumers, and our shareholders.”
