I have a confession to make: When I was growing up, I hated country music. I don’t know if it was the music itself or just the general twang, but I was truly closed-minded about the entire genre. Billy Idol and Duran Duran were definitely more my speed back then. I was a child of the 80s: big hair and synthesizers ruled the day as far as I was concerned. As I grew older, though, I began to appreciate the wonderful language and storytelling essential to really great country music.
Adhesives and sealants professionals will be telling their stories as the industry gathers this month in Nashville for the Adhesive and Sealant Council’s Spring Convention and Expo. In addition to informative technical sessions on a variety of topics, the event will feature a waterborne adhesives Short Course and multiple networking opportunities. Moreover, 60+ exhibitors will highlight their products and services at the Expo on Tuesday. And for all of us country music fans, Music City is sure to provide plenty of sight-seeing opportunities!
The European Coatings Congress and Show is also taking place this month, in Nuremberg, Germany. The event will showcase 144 lectures in 24 sessions, as well as exhibitions in two sections (generally split between raw materials and equipment/technologies) and pre-conference tutorials.
We’re also focusing on end-use applications for transportation in this issue with an Adhesives at Work section. Articles detail dispensing coatings into ignition coils, improvements in an automotive sealant inspection system, and the U.S. Coast Guard’s efforts at optimizing corrosion resistance. Be sure to also take a look at additional transportation-focused editorial in this month’s special ASI End User Digital Edition, which will deploy mid-month, as well as on our microsite at www.adhesivesmag.com/ASIEndUser.
