From May 13-17, the Pressure Sensitive Tape Council’s (PSTC) Tape Summit will take place in Baltimore. The annual event provides industry professionals opportunities to build their pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) tape knowledge base.
Educational Courses
Two educational courses will cover all aspects of PSA tape design and manufacturing. From May 13-14, “Adhesives & Advanced Technology of PSA Tapes” will explore polymer technology as it relates to PSA tapes, with a detailed technical discussion of polymer properties, adhesive types, chemistries and properties, surface science, theories of adhesion, and other topics.
On May 14, “Fundamentals of PSA Tape” will provide a basic overview of all the key technology areas of PSA tape in a classroom setting. The course offers an introduction to the industry, with less technical content than other classes.
Building and Production Industry Track
New this year, the Building & Construction Industry: Markets and Application track will take place May 15-16. The learning track is designed to help building and construction professionals to better understand the variety of PSA tape solutions available, address how PSA tapes are used from a building and construction applications standpoint, and address the challenges of using PSA tape and how to overcome them.
PSTC Spring Membership Meeting
The Spring Membership Meeting (for PSTC members only) begins at 10 a.m. on May 14, and includes updates on industry trends, as well as new PSTC initiatives and programs. The meeting will also include regulatory information.
Spring Meeting Keynote
On Wednesday, May 15, Fredi Lajvardi will present the keynote presentation. Lajvardi reportedly captivated the country when he led his team of disadvantaged teenagers in a university-level underwater robotics competition, where they defeated leading schools, including top-ranked MIT. Their story inspired the acclaimed documentary “Underwater Dreams” and was also adapted into the major motion picture, “Spare Parts,” starring actor and comedian George Lopez as Fredi. His award-winning Falcon Robotics team is also featured in the 2017 film “Dream Big.”
TECH 40
From May 14-17, TECH 42 will provide attendees with knowledge that is immediately applicable to PSA companies. This seminar provides information on innovations, applications, sustainability and global issues that impact the PSA tape industry.
Exhibitor Showcase
The exhibitor showcase, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 15, includes lunch from noon-2 p.m., followed by an exhibitor showcase reception and poster session from 3:30-5:30 p.m. See below for a list of exhibitors.
