The ChemQuest Group, Inc. recently announced the addition of Victoria Scarborough, Ph.D., in the position of vice president of Collaborative Innovation. According to ChemQuest, Scarborough is an R&D leader and subject matter expert for the commercialization of in-demand new technology that leverages open innovation. Her leadership strengths include aligning company stakeholders, external global partners, and multi-disciplined technologists for seamless, technology-driven marketing, finance, manufacturing, and R&D functions.

Scarborough earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Mary Washington and received her doctorate in biochemistry from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (1979). She pursued an MBA from Christian Brothers University and later participated in the Sherwin-Williams’ Leadership Excellence Program at Case Western Reserve University. In 2012, Scarborough completed the Licensing Executives Society’s Best Practices in Licensing: Developing, Negotiating & Executing Transactions program.

For the past 25+ years, Scarborough has reportedly advanced technology in the public and private sectors, ranging from the Department of Defense and federal laboratories, universities, and multinational corporations to individual inventors and startups, often by creating and managing complex R&D and commercialization activities with multi-million-dollar budgets. From 1981-2007, as the R&D director for Sherwin-Williams Co.’s WoodCare Group in Memphis, Tenn., Scarborough reportedly became widely known as a wood coatings expert. For the next 10 years, she served as the company’s director of New Technology (2007-2010) and then program director of Global External Innovation (2010-2017).

“It is an honor to work with such a distinguished group of colleagues at ChemQuest and to continue the innovation journey by providing insights into new technologies that provide meaningful results for our clients,” Scarborough said.

“Dr. Scarborough’s multi-faceted background facilitating collaboration among technology owners, equity partners, and key stakeholders, will position ChemQuest clients for sustainable profitability in leading specialty chemicals markets,” said Dan Murad, CEO. “Vickie has a remarkable track record for value creation that leverages open innovation to develop breakthrough products and processes amid stiff competition, global raw material shortages, and price pressures.”
