Channeled Resources Group (CRG) recently announced that its silicone coating division, GMC, has installed a Catbridge 900 slitter at its plant in Toronto, Ontario. The new unit is reportedly 50% faster and features more automation capabilities than the current slitter at that location. Channeled Resources' GMC division specializes in narrow web, custom-coated paper release liners for the tape, sealant, envelope, graphic, and specialty markets.
According to CRG, the model 900 duplex center slitter rewinder offers exceptional versatility and speed. Ideal for narrow web slitting, the slitter rewinder is capable of speeds to 2,500 fpm or more, depending on the material, a 32-in. rewind diameter, and a minimum 1-in. slit width. Advanced technologies and features precisely control roll edge quality and density. The slitter will be used with the two coaters located in Toronto, a 40-in. and 22-in. narrow width coater.
"We should now be able to slit with much greater precision, in half the time," said Cindy White, president and CEO of CRG. "In today's world, if you don't get faster and reduce waste, you won't be here tomorrow. We are quite excited about this new piece of equipment."
