Shurtape Technologies, LLC has revamped its Shurtape® brand CP 27® 14-Day ShurRELEASE® blue painter’s tape. CP 27 features a new solventless adhesive system and a premium backing paper, which reportedly together deliver a combination of sustainability, adhesion, and clean removability. This results in a painter’s tape with enhanced feel, flexibility, and paint line performance.
According to Shurtape, CP 27 is a premium-grade, medium-adhesion blue painter’s tape primarily used for interior and exterior masking. It can be safely applied to multiple surfaces, including painted walls, glass, vinyl, metal, and wood.
In order to improve the sustainability and environmental impact of CP 27, Shurtape engineers reportedly removed the solvents used to process the tape’s synthetic rubber-based adhesive. They also sourced backing paper from a manufacturing partner known for its commitment to responsible forest management.
Shurtape reports that sustainability does not come at the price of performance. The advanced new adhesive formula found in CP 27 delivers excellent adhesion to prevent lifting and minimize paint bleed while allowing the tape to remove cleanly from surfaces without damage for up to 14 days.
CP 27 also features a new fine-structured crepe (FSC) paper backing. This new backing imparts a smooth, consistent feel during the application process. In addition, it makes the tape more flexible and responsive, improving the accuracy and reliability of application and delivering the paint lines expected by the industry.
“These changes are part of a proactive approach we take to tape design,” said John Sullivan, product manager, paint and masking tapes, for Shurtape Technologies, LLC. “As paint formulas change, we take measures to ensure our products continue to provide the performance customers have come to expect, while maintaining sustainable manufacturing processes.”
