According to a recent report from Grand View Research, the global chemical distribution market was estimated to be $247.1 billion last year and is projected to see robust growth (5.4% CAGR) to 2028. The distribution of specialty chemicals, such as those used in CASE (coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers) and other sectors, is expected to be the fastest-growing segment of the market, reaching $139 billion in that timeframe.1
With so many key materials in motion, along with multiple major challenges simultaneously in play (think Winter Storm Uri on top of COVID-19), I recently reached out to key players in the distribution sector to try to understand the impact of these issues on the supply chain for adhesives and sealants materials, as well as the industry as a whole. I’m excited to share their feedback with you in this issue!
Our participants discuss questions related to the main challenges facing both chemicals/raw materials suppliers and purchasers, as well as the benefits that distributors can provide and the myriad ways that the relationships between these entities have evolved over time.
