CHARLES ROSS & SON CO.: Double-Planetary Mixer
The company reports that this mixer excels in rugged applications that require enormous torque.

According to Charles Ross & Son Co., its double-planetary mixer is used for high-precision mixing, granulation, and vacuum drying. According to the company, the mixer excels in rugged applications that require enormous torque. Patented high-viscosity (HV) blades work in tandem to knead and mix from a vertical orientation, augmented by large shafts and generous bearing spreads. Ross reports that this is an ideal combination for tough-to-mix formulations of up to 6 million cP or higher.
The design includes a heavy-duty fabricated gearbox engineered for stability and smooth planetary movement of the stirrers as they orbit a common axis. These change-can machines reportedly deliver quick ROI and remain in service for over 60 years of continuous usage.
