RadTech, the Association for UV & EB Technology, recently shared some preliminary results from a market trends survey focusing on ultraviolet (UV) and electron beam (EB) technologies. The market is anticipated to see annual market growth of about 7% (on average) over the next three years. In addition, 3D printing/additive manufacturing leads all UV+EB categories, with a double-digit increase.
According to the survey, about 18 end-use markets are forecasted to see 5% or better growth, including:
- Electronics
- Field-applied UV
- Inkjet (industrial and graphic arts)
- Barrier coatings and conductive films for flexible electronics
- UV for fingernails
- Aerospace
- Sprayable coatings (3D)
- Water-based UV/EB
- Food packaging
- Structural adhesives
- Coatings for automotive interiors and clear coats for automotive exteriors
- Plastic coatings
- UV-cured powder coatings
- Plastic film and sheet, excluding vinyl flooring but including display film, auto film, optical film, and window film
- Metal decorating
- Photovoltaics
