When manufacturers are looking to use adhesives in an assembly operation, three steps must enter into the decision process: suitability, compatibility, and capability.
We manufacture PTFE and other fluoroplastic parts. We have been requested to make parts that can be bonded to metals. Is there a good adhesive, some sort of additive to the PTFE, or a surface treatment that we can use?
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a high-performance plastic used in a variety of industries, particularly for its heat and chemical resistance and “non-stick” properties. However, PTFE has a low surface energy that does not allow adhesives to wet its surface and subsequently bond.
These gaskets will benefit designers seeking a thin, resilient product with an adhesive backing.

Stockwell Elastomerics recently announced the availability of gaskets fabricated from .010- and .020-in.-thick Rogers BISCO® HT-6000 series silicone rubber with .002-in.-thick 3M™ adhesive transfer tape 9667MP acrylic adhesive laminated to one side.
The resin is an all-acrylic polymer emulsion for use in removable, pressure-sensitive adhesive applications.

Engineered Polymer Solutions (EPS) has launched EPS® 2157, a resin for protective films for appliances, doors, and glass, as well as any application where protective masking is required.
Called thermoset polyesters, these materials are glass fiber-reinforced unsaturated polyesters. They are also often referred to as “sheet molding compounds” (SMCs), “fiber-reinforced plastics” (FRPs), or simply “fiberglass.”
Taking a systematic approach and using selection tools available from adhesive manufacturers can streamline the pressure-sensitive adhesive selection process and help ensure strong bonding in each application.
The ideal pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) delivers exactly the right amount of bonding at the lowest cost. Choosing the right adhesive hasn’t always been easy, however. We have all heard stories about adhesives failing prematurely, as well as how costly those failures can be to product manufacturers.
Toyochem reports that the adhesive compositions do not contain any substances that may contaminate coating environments or cause costly bonding issues.

Toyochem Co., Ltd. has launched a new healthcare-use line of pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs) under its Oribain™ brand of acrylic adhesive solutions.
Recent innovations in the electronics industry, such as hybrid vehicles, mobile electronic devices, medical applications, digital cameras, computers, defense telecommunications, and augmented reality headsets, touch nearly every part of our lives.
I realize that the meter/mix equipment can be a major inconvenience. Adhesives come in two forms, namely two component or one component. Two-component adhesives are mainly epoxies, reactive acrylics, or polyurethanes.
