Manufacturers are demanding increasingly robust and cost-effective solutions when facing challenges in bonding, potting, and form-in-place gaskets. As a result, two-part fluids are increasingly being specified to provide higher quality, consistency and endurance.
Adhesive bonding in industrial production often requires very short curing times. In the case of reactive adhesives, this generally means high curing temperatures.
Assembly and manufacturing processes are highly dependent on the rapid and effective curing of ultraviolet (UV) adhesives. Historically, mercury arc lamps have been used as the curing source in a wide range of industrial applications and processes to polymerize adhesives.
It seems like carbon fiber is popping up everywhere. There are carbon fiber cars on television shows, magazines tout the benefits of carbon fiber automotive accessories and carbon fiber airplanes have taken flight.
3D printers will increasingly be used to manufacture direct production parts and finished goods in a variety of applications.

3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, allows solid objects to be built from a series of layers using plastic, metal, or other materials. This technology can thereby produce sophisticated structures with greater flexibility and efficiency and less waste compared to traditional manufacturing techniques, which require longer setup times and higher material and labor costs.
Preissuance submissions are a one-chance opportunity to present prior art in such a way that an examiner will be convinced to apply the prior art to reject pending claims in a patent application.
"The preissuance submission provision in the America Invents Act aims to bring the most relevant prior art to the examiner’s attention as early as possible during prosecution to enhance examination effectiveness and efficiency,” says Undersecretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) David Kappos.
Primary and secondary structures that comprise modern aircraft are typically combinations of metals and lightweight carbon fiber- or glass fiber-reinforced polymer composites joined using high-performance adhesives.
