Actually, as a small consulting business (ironic that I consult on renewable energy) operating in a suburb of a mid-western state, we are prohibited, due to local ordinances, from using solar panels or wind turbines on our property and/or our facilities. Solar panels and wind turbines are said to be 'environmentally and aesthetically unacceptable' in this area.

 

Some solar panels and sky lights. However they are only available due to governmental subsidies.
