This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Pressure Sensitive Tape Council’s (PSTC) Tape Summit, which is scheduled to take place May 15-19 in Las Vegas, Nev. The annual event provides industry professionals opportunities to build their pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) tape knowledge base.
Adhesive coating is an important and necessary step in pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) construction. It’s also one of the least-discussed aspects of the PSA manufacturing process and, as of late, is becoming one of the most environmentally sustainable.
We have a customer who wants to use an adhesive-backed expanded PTFE gasket strip on a steel substrate. However, the customer wants to be able to remove and reapply the strip without losing adhesion. We do not make ePTFE gasket strips, but we have imported some samples for the customer to test. They are not satisfied with the results. I must admit, I am not surprised. Is there such a thing as a PSA that can be removed and reapplied a number of times without losing adhesion?
