The Bodo Möller Chemie Group is expanding its portfolio through a strategic partnership with Henkel AG & Co. KGaA. Starting immediately, Bodo Möller Chemie is distributing Sonderhoff formed-in-place foam gaskets technology (FIPFG) by Henkel in 28 European countries, including Germany, Austria, France, and Switzerland. This technology allows highly precise gasket applications to set new standards in numerous industries, from electronics and the automotive sector through to medical technology, thanks to innovative 2K material systems and efficient mixing and dosing machines.
The partnership between Henkel and the Bodo Möller Chemie Group is centered on polyurethane- and silicone-based Sonderhoff 2K gasket foams, specifically developed for complex geometries, low tolerances, and a variety of industrial requirements. This innovative technology with partially or fully automatic mixing and dosing machines allows the gasket seal foam to be applied directly and precisely onto the component surface. The result is flush-fit, seamless closed foam gaskets with optimum properties that meet strict requirements for protection against dust, moisture, chemicals, and environmental influences.
“Through this cooperative partnership, we not only consolidate our market position but also provide our clients with access to innovative system solutions which are precise, versatile, and sustainable,” said Frank Haug, Bodo Möller Chemie Group CEO. “The combination between Henkel’s leading FIPFG technology and our application expertise creates a significant added value for our partners in Europe.”
FIPFG technology is used in numerous sectors and markets due to its excellent adaptability. Thanks to the effective protection that component gaskets provide against dust, moisture, chemicals, and environmental influences, an extended service life is guaranteed for products manufactured in the automotive industry, electronics and electrical engineering, the aerospace industry, the packaging industry, the construction sector, and medical technology production. Sealed casings can be opened and closed repeatedly for tasks such maintenance and repairs, a clear advantage for greater sustainability. Thanks to the elasticity of 2K foam gaskets, the sealing effect will remain undiminished for years.
Among other things, integrating FIPFG technology into fully automatic manufacturing processes reduces production costs while also increasing speed, thus helping improve efficiency. The technology is made more sustainable by minimizing material usage through precise dosing and the reusability of components. Moreover, the sealing quality remains unchanged, no matter how many units are produced. Using the technology also increases productivity as the rapid chemical reaction results in short reaction and cycle times.
“The partnership with Bodo Möller Chemie affirms our commitment to technical excellence and sustainable solutions,” said Sebastian Reiff, Head of Sales Germany and Switzerland, Adhesive Technologies at Henkel. “Together, we deliver innovative technologies which create a true competitive advantage in production for our clients.”
The cooperative partnership also addresses the growing demand for sealing materials that are not only functional but also environmentally sustainable. With optimized processes and reduced waste, these products play an essential role in sustainable manufacture and long-term cost reduction.
